You show up at the convention with your beautifully painted and cherished figure and . . .

  1. Where and how do I enter a figure? Painters should see Heather Blush or one of the Painting Event Team members in the Painting Area. Entries will be accepted until 1:00 PM (approximately) on Saturday, July 22, 2006. Questions prior to the convention may be emailed to painting@historicon.org.
  2. How do I register it? There is a Painting Contest Entry Form for you to fill out. You may download and print it from this web site (recommended) and bring with you to the convention or you can fill it out onsite (name, address, etc.) All entries must be registered no later than 1 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2006.
  3. How many entries can I have? Painters may only register one figure per category, i.e. 1 Single Figure, 1 Unit, 1 Vehicle, 1 Diorama.
  4. Will my figure be safe? The Painting Event Team will do everything in their power to safeguard your painted figure. A locked display cabinet will be used to protect all figures from theft.
  5. How does my figure get into the locked case? Figures will be placed in the display cases by the Painting Team Staff.
  6. Do I get a prize if I win? Certificates will be given to winning entries. Prizes are being solicited but are not guaranteed. Winners will be announced in the HMGS-East Newsletter following the convention and posted on this web site.
  7. How do I get my little item OUT of the cabinet to go home? Entry pickups will be held immediately following the announcement of the winning entries on Saturday at 3 PM.
  8. What is my status if I go home early and don't wait for the judging? Should you choose to abandon your figure, it will be mailed to you UPS ground (for tracking and insurance purposes) at your expense and at your own risk. All items will be packed carefully but HGMS-East is not responsible for any damage to items. Should you choose not to cough up the money for shipping (via a PayPal account), your figure becomes the property of HMGS-East - all of this is clearly stated on the entry card (in the fine print).
  9. How do we ensure that the item I want is the item that belongs to me? As part of the entry process, you will receive a "claim check" ticket to use to retrieve your item. Additionally, if you know that you can't pick up your figure but want to send your buddy, Dilbert to pick it up, you can designate another person for us to release the item to (your wife, your buddy, your kid, some guy standing next to you in line for beer, etc) - we will ask for ID from that person (drivers license or something). Yes, probably overkill, but you'd rather be safe than sorry, right?
