Osprey, "world leaders in illustrated military history", will be collaborating once again with HISTORICON. While final details are still being arranged, plans include a new series launch – with exclusive access to previews of the new titles – which no-one else outside the four walls of Osprey will have seen before, along with providing access to popular Osprey authors, a seminar by Osprey staff including sneak previews of new books before publication, an insight into how the company works, how their books get made, and a chance to find out more about becoming an Osprey author. Daily prize drawings (prizes will include advance copies of new titles) will be held, along with sponsoring/judging another competition for Best Osprey Campaign Series Game.
Best Osprey Campaign Series Game Competition
This competition will be between gamemasters for the best presentation of a battle at the convention inspired by one of Osprey’s CAMPAIGN series titles. The winning GM(s) will win a grand prize of TEN (10) Osprey books of their choice, including books that are yet to hit the shops! To register your game, please note in the Comments field of the GM Event Registration Form that it is "Entry in the Osprey Campaign Competition". [Last year’s winning GM of Osprey’s CAMPAIGN Game Competition was Peter Gaut, for his superb WWI game and terrain.]

| Friday 1 PM, 1.5 hrs |
| Simone Drinkwater, Business Development Manager and former Commissioning Editor, and Richard Sullivan, Marketing Director, from Osprey Publishing will be hosting a seminar to talk about the company in more detail and to give you some sneak previews of new titles. Including how they make their publishing decisions, what is the best way to submit a synopsis if you are interested in becoming an author, a chance to suggest new title ideas, what their bestsellers are, who to get in touch with about new title ideas and best of all a sneak preview of a new series - 'Duel'. Something that no one else outside the four walls of Osprey will know about until after HISTORICON; make sure you don’t miss it! |
New Osprey Wargaming Rules
Field of Glory Rules Demo: Osprey Publishing (and friends) will have an exclusive preview demo of their new Ancients and Medieval gaming system – Field of Glory – at HISTORICON (basically the rules themselves can be used with any scale, and both periods, but they work best with either 28, 25 or 15mm, so we’ll be holding an Ancients 28mm demo game). Although the rules set and accompanying army lists will not be released until February 2008, HISTORICON attendees will have first access to how the game plays, be able to find out more about the books themselves, and ask Osprey any questions they may have! [See Event S-731 in the Events (PEL) for details, Sat. 6 PM, 1 hr.; 8 Players.
