The links below provide some basic information about the gamemaster registration (for games, seminars or tournaments) for the convention.
Gamemaster Policy
We will continue recognizing volunteers who help make your attendance at our conventions more enjoyable. Any event host that is an HMGS member (any chapter) putting on a game, hosts a tournament or seminar that has been listed, either in the PEL or program book, receives FREE admission to the convention. [ Note: To qualify for free admission, in total your games must provide at least 24 service hours; service hours are calculated by number of players multiplied by duration of game – example: 6 players in a 4 hour game, or 8 players 3 hour game, etc., equals 24 service hours. ]
Events Hosting - Games, Seminars, Tournaments, etc.
HMGS East or the Convention Committee reserves the right to refuse any event (game, seminar, tournament, etc.) to be run at the convention or terminate ones in progress, should, in the judgment of HMGS East or the Convention Committee, said Event Host is not following policies as outlined hereafter. The Convention Committee will investigate all complaints, and the specific situation will be discussed with the event host(s), prior to any action taken for the event in question, or future events, run by the same event host(s).
Event Hosts are encouraged to allow minors in their events. However, you can require adult supervision (i.e., parent or guardian) of under age 15 minors if desired, but this must be stated your event description, so it will be printed in all convention material (PEL and Program). Simply state: "Under age 15, only with playing adult" at end of description, if this is a problem (note that you can also say Under age 12…10…8, etc.) In addition, Event Hosts may state "Not Recommended For Young Children", but unless previously approved by HMGS East or Convention Committee, may not state "No Kids Allowed".
Convention Regalia and Weapons
HMGS-East and the Convention Committee reserve the right to bar anyone from the convention if we determine that clothing or symbols, hereby known as regalia, worn are inappropriate for the convention. Regalia that depict racial, ethnic, religious, sexist, or otherwise distasteful messages shall be prohibited. Determination that a person or person(s) is or are wearing such shall be at the discretion of the Convention Committee. At the discretion of the Convention Committee, an Event Host may be allowed to tastefully display 'symbolic' uniform parts (i.e., German Wehrmacht caps or British Airborne Berets) from the opposing forces in the game. This is not, however, an endorsement of such practices.
Real or simulated weapons will not be permitted in the convention areas, nor will any item that in the Convention Committee's judgment can present a hazard to our guests. Active Duty Military, Law Enforcement, Security Police, and Emergency Services are exempt from this policy, while carrying weapons in the performance of their official duties.
Game Awards & Competitions for Gamemasters
As always we encourage people to put on their best game at the convention! There will be awards for game masters and we will need volunteers to help out at the Events/GM Help Desk. Check out the Awards and be "in the know" as to what's going on. In addition, Osprey Publishing is sponsoring/judging a competition for the Best Osprey Campaigns Series Game at the convention. This will be a competition between gamemasters for the best presentation of a battle at the convention from one of the currently published Osprey CAMPAIGNS series books, with great prizes awarded to winning GMs from their product line, including titles not yet available.
